Sand fence may be installed for the purpose of building sand dunes by trapping wind blown sand and to
protect the dune(s) and its vegetation (planted or existing).
Sand fence is constructed from evenly spaced thin wooden vertical slats connected with twisted wire, of 4 feet in height. Wooden posts used are 3” round. Thoughtful use of sand fence and vegetation plantings can re-create the types of habitats lost through development.
